Actually… it’s year 96 of the founding of the Republic of China! The Republic of China was started in 1911 by Dr. Sun Yat-Sen and so… it is now 96 years after that fateful event.
I guess you could call it a lunar calendar year… however, there are really no years in lunar calendars – just references to emperors’ reigns. And I guess the founding of Republic is sorta like an emperor’s reign?!
