postcards

Two postcards were in my mailbox yesterday.

  1. One from my friend Gums from Darjeeling and addressed to me, San Francisco
  2. One from Donegal address to Stockton-on-Tees ,Cleveland. That’s not even in this country! How did it get here? To me? I can think of no reasonable explanation.

What are you going to do with the improperly delivered postcard? Will you forward it to the correct recipient?

That’s pretty crazy that that postcard even ended up in the US never mind in your mailbox. Does it have enough postage for transatlantic airmail? If not, I would guess that it may have gotten stuck to or inside of some other piece of mail that was destined for the US. That still doesn’t explain why it ended up in your mailbox, though, unless it subsequently became attached to some of your mail. You should take it to the post office and see what they say about it. Maybe this sort of thing isn’t all that uncommon.

Roommate and I are thinking of just mailing it directly back to them with a note of where it was delivered. We could return it to the post office but then the recipient would never know where it had been and that makes a better story.

It appeared to have first class domestic postage on it, but I’m not completely sure.
