it seems time dependent. it usually loads pretty quickly in the AM EST, but not so quickly later in the day. I'm pretty sure it's related to the processing load, and not the network load, because the static content at "http://adrianbischoff.com/" loads lickety split. although that page is tiny. for curiosity's sake you could take a static snapshot of the blog page and see how that does. if it is a load problem like this, and you want to stick with jvds, you could try to convince them to move your vps to a different physical machine.

I'm using verizon wireless "broadband" right now which is usually pretty slow and your page loaded quickly. I'll have to see how it is when I get back home to my desktop which has dsl. I know for sure on that computer your page takes 5-6 seconds longer than any other page I try to load.

Okay, here's the thing.

I didn't notice any difference at all. It's as slow as it ever was.
And seriously. You can talk about how slow your cable-modem box is, Randy, but it's waaay faster than adrianbischoff.com It *always* takes at least 5-6 seconds longer to load than any other page that I'm trying to load.

Which says to me the ANB needs to change his hosting service, and quick-like.

Well, I do have to say it was pretty slow to process my last comment there.

Also - <em> tags do work!

Well it is a virtual server, which means you share the physcial box, and probalby the network interface with someone.

Your host says you get a Dual HT Xeon "equivilent" to a 2.4 GHz processor, and they put 20 hosts on each one. I assume they're using VMware for your linux distros. I could definatley see someone, or a group of your shared hosts gobbling up processor, or more likely, bandwith.

That being said - I didn't know you had root on a virtual server.... why is Andy's virtual Apache server on my sloooow cable line server, and now on your relatively fast server...

And what happened to "Preview Comment" I like that. I want to see if this thing knows em tags. Harrumpf

interesting. based on no real empirical evidence, I don't think my vps seems as slow, which makes me wonder why yours often does seem a bit slow.
